Understanding and Love
Greetings
to all my readers and I hope you all are doing great. I really want to talk on
two very important issues in relationship: Understanding and Love. I met someone who once asked me that between
Understanding and Love which is more important and needed for a successful relationship? I began to ponder over this question and I realized that though
both understanding and love are highly needed but it seems understanding is far
more needed than love! I will defend my claim, just read on.
With my
experiences in relationship, I realize that love does not guarantee
understanding but to some extent, understanding can create avenue for love to
come in. Since the both are needed for a
successful relationship, we begin to strive to build the most needed which is
understanding. What is understanding?
To
understand according to Encarta dictionary means to: “to know or be able to
explain to yourself the nature of somebody or something or meaning or cause of
something.” From the definition above, you will realize that if only you can
understand your partner, you will enjoy your relationship.
Do you
know that two people who don't love each other but understands each other can
live happily in love relationship? But no matter how much of love two people
share together but they lack the ability to understand each other, that love
relationship will never be successful. There will be endless arguments every
now and then.
Understanding
helps the love between two couples to grow, develop and get sustained.
Understanding assures an individual of truly love and peace of mind.
Understanding is like the key used to unlock the love potentials in every
relationship. I will mention below, some of the issues that requires understanding
in every relationship. (It is important to remember the operational definition
of understanding which I derived from Encarta dictionary) You have to understand:
1. Your
partner’s composition: We are all unique in our own different ways.
2. The
relationship rules: Every relationship is made up of rules that govern it. Any
violation of one of the rules means cheating in that relationship. So, there is
the need to understand your relationship rules.
3. Your
partner’s state of mood: Yeah, this is very important because it will help you
act maturely during your partner’s worst state of moods.
4. Your
partner’s ideology, religion and culture:
5. Your
partner’s temperament
6. Your
partner’s work condition: You have to understand the demand and challenges of
his work or profession.
7. Your
partner’s sexual drive level: You must know why he/she ask for sex or why he/she
is not a freak of sex.
The above
listed should be better understood by you and your partner for love to flow
regularly in your relationship. Below are the advantages of understanding in
your relationship:
1.
There will be maturity in way things are handled in the relationship: e.g.
relationship conflicts.
2. It
will help reduce the level of couple’s arguments that comes up between you and
your partner.
3. Love
flows freely and constantly.
4.
There will be emotional peace and absence of depression
5. None
of the partners will feel cheated, neglected, unloved, uncared for etc.
Finally,
understanding is a process towards a successful relationship, understanding
makes love adventure worth the risk. Any relationship that lacks understanding
will crash on the way. As you can see dear reader, there is more to gain from
